Diabetes is referred to as Madhumeh in Ayurveda, as a part of its treatment, suggests avoiding excess sugar and simple carbohydrates intake. But can it be cured in Ayurveda? The treatment in Ayurveda is individualized on the basis of three doshas of Ayurveda which are Vata, Kapha, and Pitta. The imbalance of each Dosha causes health issues that are linked to the imbalance. Diabetes is a Kapha Dosha imbalance problem that involves the impaired functioning of Agni (digestive fire) therefore slowing metabolism and contributing towards high blood sugar. It is recommended that one should avoid sweets, seafood, dairy products, carbohydrates, and red meat. All these food items aggravate the Kapha energy which increases the glucose level in blood. Exercises, herbal supplementation, and meditation are also recommended to reprimand the effect of Kapha energy. Ayurveda classifies diabetes into two types; Avarana and Dhatuksyaya. The first type is caused when the channels of the body are blocked by the aggravated Kapha Dosha or other tissues of the body. This is the usual cause of adult-onset diabetes. Ayurveda defines the bodily tissues as Dhatus. When these tissues are affected or depleted it causes the second type of diabetes. This is usually the cause of juvenile diabetes. Type II Diabetes can be cured by taking LOSUBIT® Capsules - An ayurvedic combination of Natural Ayurvedic Herbs with no side effects. It regulates insulin levels and helps in managing body weight and fat mass and reduces high glucose content in the blood and controls frequent urination.
